Company Presentation
Located at Trois-Rivières Airport, the company specializes in the
maintenance of Boeing, Airbus and Embraer aircraft. It mainly carries out
C-Checks, D-Checks inspections, lap joint repair-modification, cabin interior
reconfiguration, as well as aircraft exterior and interior painting.
History
In November 2002, the initiators of the aircraft maintenance centre
project announced that the centre would be coming to Trois-Rivières Airport.
The available building, built in 1995, and the facilities were quite
appropriate and large enough for maintenance and painting activities on
narrow-body aircraft.
It was therefore in January 2003 that a first Boeing 737 aircraft landed
on the runway at the Trois-Rivières Airport. Premier Aviation, with its 49
employees, was starting its activities. In October 2003, the first contract was
signed with WestJet, and by the end of 2003, the company had 71 employees.
In 2004, Premier Aviation continued its growth, but the lack of space in
the hangars created a situation where managers had to refuse certain contracts.
Therefore, at the end of 2004, the managers planned to build an extension on
the hangar.
In July 2005, management announced the decision to expand one of its
hangars to double its size, making it large enough to accommodate maintaining
three production lines at all times. The area of the hangar No. 1 has therefore
increased from 11,000 to 21,250 square feet while the number of employees has
increased from 125 to 155 following the expansion work.
In December 2007, Radisson’s Workforce Training award was presented to the company by the Trois-Rivières Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Premier Aviation was recognized for its sustained efforts in workforce training programs. Once again in November 2009, the Trois-Rivières Chamber of Commerce and Industry presented the company with two Radisson awards:
Large enterprise and Workforce training.
In March 2008, economic stakeholders announced the expansion of the
Trois-Rivières airport landing strip by 9,000 feet, making it the 10th
longest runway in Canada. At the same time, the company reached the
200-employee mark.
In September 2017, AAR Corporation acquired Premier Aviation and at the
same time, the organization signed a 10-year contract with Air Canada for the
maintenance of the Airbus 319, 320 and 321 series, as well as the Embraer 190
and 195 aircraft.
In January 2018, Republic Airlines signed a long-term contract for the
maintenance of its Embraer 170 and 175 aircraft. With more than 400 employees,
AAR Aircraft Services continues to maintain its aircraft painting operations.
